The Strange Habits Of Successful People
It’s no secret that a lot of highly successful people are eccentric and maybe that’s what the rest of us is missing. Maybe we could all stand to take some more chances and do a little more out-of-the-box thinking. Here are some of the strangest habits of successful people to inspire you to get weird.
- Get Up Very Early. It’s said that Margaret Thatcher, who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for 11 years, only slept for a whopping total of four hours a week and kicked off her workdays at 4 o’clock in the morning.
- Wear Different Socks. Leading marketing theorist Seth Godin is known for wearing brightly colored socks with tons of shapes printed on them. It’s his reminder to “step out of the mold.” Pun intended, probably.
- Wear An Unusual Work Uniform. Apple mogul Steve Jobs may be best known for his tech but you can’t overlook his efforts in the fight against “normal” business attire. His jeans, black turtleneck, and New Balance look wasn’t just for product launches. He rocked that in all his meetings and conferences.
- Sleeping In A Capsule. If you want to live like the most decorated olympian ever Michael Phelps you’ll need to get on the phone with some contractors ASAP. He slept in an air-controlled compartment that simulated what it would be like to live 2,700 meters in the air. It was to force his body to produce more red blood cells and deliver oxygen to his muscles even while it was sleeping.
- Lock Yourself In A Hotel Room. To stimulate her creativity Maya Angelou would lock herself in a small hotel room from 7 am to 2 pm. The only things she took in there with her was a dictionary, a bible, a card game, and a bottle of sherry. All of which probably sounded a lot weirder before the quarantine this year. Now that sounds like a typical day working at home.
