New Avengers Theory: Did Doctor Strange Lie About The Only Way To Defeat Thanos?
Avengers fans do I have the conspiracy theory for you… I read this article on MovieWeb that proposed a new theory based on the ending of Avengers: Endgame so SPOILER ALERT!!! Hopefully, most people have seen it by now but if you haven’t and you don’t want the rest of this article to ruin it for you, then you have been warned…
Avengers: Endgame Recap
Okay, so Avengers: Endgame is an insane ending to the entire Avengers series. To explain the theory, we need a teenie tiny recap. In order to defeat Thanos once and for all, the Avengers have to go back in time to retrieve all the Infinity Stones. They have to go back to before Thanos used them to wipe out half of the universe’s population. Doctor Strange can predict all the outcomes possible for this. In the movie, he claims there is only one outcome where it will be successful. In this one and only successful outcome, Tony Stark has to use the Infinity Stones himself to wish that Thanos never existed. However, in this ending, the power of the stones is too great so it ends up killing him.
What is this new theory?
Essentially, the new theory states that Doctor Strange lied about there only being one successful outcome. In fact, some people say that he actually wanted Tony Stark to die. Why? Because Tony had been responsible for many of the Avengers’ previous problems. The biggest one shown in the movie series is obviously the creation of Ultron. He initially created Ultron to protect the world from otherworldly threats after Loki poses a threat in the first Avengers movie.
In this theory, people say Doctor Strange could have seen a successful outcome where Thanos is defeated and Tony lives. But Tony becomes too paranoid with his fear of otherworldly threats to allow the Infinity Stones to be returned to where they came from. And that results in a slew of other problems with the space-time continuum.
People say Doctor Strange could have seen it all, but still told Tony that him dying was the only way to defeat Thanos, when, in actuality, Tony dying avoided any possible issues with his fear and paranoia.
I personally think it could be true, but there really is no way to know for sure. It’s definitely interesting though and I’m curious to know what you think about it…
