North Carolina Lawmakers Want To Make ACC Tournament Games State Holidays
Now here’s a policy we can get behind! Growing up in NC, the ACC tournament just hits differently in North Carolina. In school, at work, in restaurants/bars…it really is an entire thing! Teachers would let us watch in school. Nobody got anything done at work and some places I’ve worked even catered the games! Even when I worked in retail, at Petsmart, you could tell when it was time for the ACC tournament because traffic was significantly slower!
Well, welcome to 2021…where several North Carolina lawmakers have introducced a bill that would make the Fridays during future ACC basketball tournaments state holidays! Both men’s and women’s basketball!
Three State Senate Democratic lawmakers are sponsoring the bill, including Sen. Sarah Crawford (Wake), Natalie Murdock (Durham) and DeAndrea Salvador (Mecklenburg).
