Woman Nine Months Pregnant Runs Mile In Under Six Minutes
I mean…I can’t do this on a normal basis.
Being nine months pregnant can leave a woman feeling pretty uncomfortable and tired, but it hasn’t slowed Makenna Myler down. She’s an avid runner who trains with the Valor Track Club in Orange County, California, and she ran one impressive mile last week in five minutes and 25 seconds. Even more impressive? It was only one week before her due date!
The mom-to-be’s husband, Mike, captured the feat on video and shared it on TikTok, where it’s gone viral with tens of thousands of likes, comments and shares. Makenna isn’t new to the sport, she ran track at Brigham Young University and hopes to one day represent the U.S. in the Olympics. The 28-year-old is happy to show what women’s pregnant bodies are capable of, but she wants others to know she’s been cautious with training during her pregnancy and has made sure her health comes first.
“I’ve been spending the last 10 or so years as an athlete listening to my body and hearing what it needs,” Makenna says. “Other women should not expect to run five-minute miles or compare themselves.” She plans to keep training after giving birth, but isn’t worried about getting back into shape. She explains, “I hate the term ‘bounce back’ because I want to be a different person and I want to change.”
@themylers Someone find whether this is a world record #pregnant #zoomies #track #mile #champion
