This Might Be The REAL Reason The Victoria Secret Fashion Show Went Away
Feel like Victoria’s Secret models keep getting smaller? That’s because they are. Researchers from the Boston University School of Medicine looked into the measurements of the lingerie company’s models midsections over the last few decades and found they are indeed shrinking.
This comes after months of bad publicity from former VS models talking to the media about how the show spotlights an unrealistic expectation of health and beauty in the industry. If you think about it, this might be the real reason VS has decided to skip the annual televised runway show and opt for a quitter web-casted show in the future.
According to the new appropriately name study, “Unattainable Standards of Beauty,” models’ middles have gone down about an inch in the last 20 years, from an average of 24.7-inches back in 1995 to about 23.6-inches in 2018. Their average height – five-feet, 11-inches – and the models’ waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7.
How’s that compare to the average American woman? She wears a size 16 dress, while the average size these models wear is a 0-4. After years of being a professional dancer/ cheerleader, I can honestly say that I have lived that unattainable lifestyle and it was no fun. After learning to love my body for its curves and now baby bump I am a much happier person. Now don’t get me wrong I still try to stay in shape and eat healthily but the days of obsessing and eating only raw veggies are over.
