Jurassic Park inspired brewery coming to Lake Norman in March 2020
Though the name, “Lost Worlds Brewing”, may have drawn inspiration for the Jurassic franchise, it much more than Dinosaurs and Theme Parks (better to not get eaten alive while having a drink).
The brewery is a joint venture between Dave and Allison Hamme, who have been home-brewing for 25 years. While they handle the business, they’ll be leaving the actual beer-making to David Gonzalez, who has history at NoDa Brewing Company and Foothills Brewing.
Dave said that their proximity to the lake will influence the selection found at Lost Worlds. You can expect “sessionable, lower alcohol, more drinkable” brews. ABVs will be around five percent, lower than most other IPAs. “The intent comes to our brewery, have a couple of beers, sit in our beer garden with your dog (yay!), have a great time, and then when you want to go on your boat, grab a growler, and go,” he explained.
They won’t have a kitchen, but they’ll have food trucks on-site. They’ll partner with local restaurants, too. Guests will be able to order food from an iPad and have it delivered directly to their table. Instead of the typical trivia nights found at many breweries, they’ll focus on having guest speakers talking about adventure-focused topics, ranging from hiking the Appalachian Trail to getting scuba certified.
The brewery is still in the construction phase, but if you really want to sample their wares, Lost Worlds has partnered with Catawba Brewing to produce a collaboration brew called Worlds Collide. They’ll have a release party on Friday, December 13. One dollar from every pint sold will go to Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center.
