The time we put Charlotte Pride on a National TV show
The Maney, Roy & LauRen Morning Show put Charlotte Pride on a National TV Show.
It was only two years ago when we were featured on TLC’s My Big Fat Fabulous Life. In My Big Fat Fabulous Life, viewers will get a window into Whitney’s life as she tries to find her way in a world that judges people by their size. She’s waging war on the intolerance that she calls “the last socially acceptable prejudice.” From donning a bikini on the beach for the first time in a decade to confronting online bullies who try to body-shame her, Whitney Thore is no longer letting her fear of people’s judgment dictate the way she lives her life.
Whitney worked with the Maney, Roy & LauRen Morning Show as an intern and field producer. We wanted to test her radio skills by interviewing and playing games with people attending Charlotte Pride.
Filming in Uptown Charlotte in the middle of summer during one of the biggest festivals of the year was very difficult. Trying to maneuver the crowd with a film crew of 20 while producers chased down participants to sign TV release forms made a long day of filming. Here is a little behind the scenes photo from that shoot:
