Most people might not even know that these parties actually became popular 11 years ago. California mom, Jenna Karvunidis, simply blogged about her party then a parenting magazine interviewed her about it.
Lately, that’s not how the “inventor” has been feeling whose daughter expresses herself as non-binary. On Facebook she writes “that assigning focus on gender at birth leaves out so much of their potential and talents that have nothing to do with what’s between their legs”. I love this mom for admitting she’s learning as she goes and feels differently now about the importance of gender! a child’s health and happiness should be what matters most.
