Katy Perry Compares Upcoming Marriage To Orlando Bloom To Her First One With Russell Brand
For Katy Perry, fiancé Orlando Bloom was almost the one who got away. But in a new interview, Perry says being a little older and wiser is why she thinks they’ve been able to make it work.
In fact, she thinks age is the biggest difference between her relationship with Bloom and her first marriage to Russell Brand. On an Australian radio show, the “Never Really Over” singer said “it’s important for us to do the work before we take this really big next step. Because we were both married before, and it’s not the same in your 30s.”
Perry married Brand in 2010 when she was in her mid-20s. (He was 35.) The two ended things 14 months later. Bloom tied the knot with Miranda Kerr, who he shares has an 8-year-old son with, that same year. They called it quits in 2013.
As for a wedding date, Perry said she and Bloom, who got engaged this past Valentine’s Day, are not planning on getting married anytime soon. Instead, she’d like to take it slow and learn from past mistakes. Perry told the hosts that she and Bloom are “really doing the hard work and laying a beautiful foundation before we start to build a massive house … figuratively, emotionally, you know.”
Recently, Perry shared a video on her Instagram of her “potty jams.” It’s her performing “Never Really Over” in a bathroom. You really do get great acoustics in there.
