Here’s What You Need To Know About Using Cleaning Products In Your Home
An alarming new study paints a troubling picture about using cleaning products.
According to a study published in The American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, there is a direct correlation between women who use cleaning sprays and decreased lung health.
To come to this conclusion, six thousand people, mainly women, were studied for twenty years. Scientists documented their lung function for the duration of the study, and compared the results to their cleaning habits. Researchers found that the women in the test group suffered health issues due to using common household cleaning products.
Their health issues were compared to smoking 20 cigarettes per day for one to two decades.
Due to the alarming nature of the study, researchers are advising people who use cleaning sprays to avoid them all together — And to use a wet cloth to clean instead.
While researchers did not come to the same conclusion for males in the study, this could be because the men in the study group didn’t use cleaning products as often as women.
Will this study make you rethink how you clean your home and what cleaning products you use?
