Seth Meyers sets a high bar for future hosts of award shows.
On Sunday, Seth Meyers hosted the 2018 Golden Globes. He was given the difficult task of finding humor in the midst of such serious times of sexual misconduct scandals within the entertainment industry. He opened the awards with a monologue starting with, “it’s 2018, marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment finally isn’t…it’s gonna be a good year!”
It’s safe to say Meyers did a pretty good job of finding the humor! His charisma and dry humor had the audience constantly laughing.
Viewers were shocked and amazed at how many aims he took at certain celebrities and political figures such as Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Woody Allen and more. Many viewers took to Twitter to voice their opinion on Meyers as the host and majority of them had good things to say…
Seth Meyers is doing an incredible job of walking the line acknowledging the issues without diminishing the issues by punching down and still actually being funny.— Emerson Collins (@ActuallyEmerson) January 8, 2018
Seth Meyers saying “Harvey Weinstein will be the first person ever booed during the in memoriam” is maybe my favorite joke I’ve ever heard at an award show.— Chris Mintz-Plasse (@MintzPlasse) January 8, 2018
