Charli XCX to Star in and Produce A24 Film ‘The Moment’
Charli XCX gave us Brat summer and now she is moving to another adventure. Variety reports that Charli has another film in the works, this one based on her own original idea. Titled The Moment, the project marks the feature directorial debut of Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes.
According to the report, A.G. Cook, Charli’s longtime collaborator, is set to compose the score, and A24 is backing the film alongside Charli’s new production company, Studio365. (Yes, like the song—she knows what she’s doing.) While there aren’t too many details available right now the report also states that Charli may star in the film too.
This isn’t her first move in Hollywood, though. Charli’s set to appear in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. And her calendar is packed with other projects, including Daniel Goldhaber’s Faces of Death remake, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice, Pete Ohs’ Erupcja, Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero (alongside Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corrin, and Maika Monroe), Benito Skinner’s comedy series Overcompensating, and Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist (featuring Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman, and Catherine Zeta-Jones).
Back in November, she juggled double duty as musical guest and host on SNL and later told Variety how seriously she’s been taking this career shift. “I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, headfirst, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” she said. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”
