Is the 1975’s Next Album About Matty Healy’s Relationship with Taylor Swift?
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department album seemed to hint at her whirlwind romance with the 1975’s frontman Matty Healy. Songs from The Tortured Poets Department that lyrically could be about Healy include “But Daddy I Love Him,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.” Suffice it to say that many fans have been waiting for his reply. Now that the band is dropping a new album soon, The Sun reported that the sixth track in the album, “God Has Entered My Body” is allegedly about the pop princess.
“God Has Entered My Body”
While making the album, an insider says, “Everyone at the studio thought this was about Matty’s fling with Taylor and their fleeting romance.” Since Healy is not known to comment about his personal life, the insider alleged the “Part of the Band” singer “lets his deepest feelings out in his songs and gets everything off his chest.”
The line on the song that was alleged to be about Swift is: “Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling.”
However, Matty Healy has already captioned an Instagram post in 2021 with the same line, so it’s entirely possible that the lyric wasn’t inspired by Swift.
Matty Healy Responds to the Rumor
Healy, who has a verified Reddit account responded to the speculation about the song. Billboard reported the singer-songwriter just quipped, “Huge if true.” The band has been quiet about updates regarding the new album. However, on November 18 last year, Healy seemingly hinted at the album’s tracklist.
He tweeted: “Alone Together. Give us back our present. Oh yeah? The Philmarillion. Owe God A Death. Commercials in a hotel room. EVERYTHINGAMAZINGNOBODYHAPPY. We were promised set backs. Pepsi-Cola Addict. Naked when you found her. ‘He’s White’. There are only individuals. TaxmanTaxmanInjectioHobby.”
NME reported that Healy later tweeted, clarifying that his previous tweet was “This is my ‘names for our children’ folder.” However, fans were eager to speculate that it’s the album’s tracklist. One fan wrote, “Pause are we getting the tracklist already.” While one opted for a more direct approach and asked, “Is this the tracklist for album 6.”
However, one fan speculated that what Healy tweeted was song lyrics. “I bet these are song lyrics.” Another agreed, “This can’t be a tracklist these would sound too edgy even for you guys.”
Interestingly, “God Has Entered My Body” is not included in the alleged tracklist.
The new album is expected to drop this summer, with the band headlining the Glastonbury Festival in June.
