Celebrating 25 Years of NSYNC’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’
Yes. It’s been 25 years since JC Chasez, Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, collectively known as NSYNC, released the banger “Bye, Bye, Bye” and we’re still singing and dancing to the official choreography while in the shower or while at another millennial friend’s birthday party. Released as the lead single of their third studio album, No Strings Attached, “Bye Bye Bye” is often considered as the group’s signature song.
The song became an instant anthem and forever etched in pop culture.
“Bye Bye Bye” Celebrates 25 Years and Gets a Second Life—Thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine
Billboard reported that “Bye Bye Bye” re-entered the charts again because of Deadpool & Wolverine’s opening scene with Deadpool impressively following the original choreography while, you know, killing Time Variance Authority agents.
Fans’ comments flooded the YouTube video. One fan wrote, “Crazy because of Deadpool this song is going to gain a whole new generation of fans.” The official YouTube video is now called “Bye Bye Bye (Official Video From Deadpool & Wolverine).” One fan commented, “Deadpool truly is rewriting the multiverse. Bro literally came to our universe just to change the title of a YouTube video.”
Lance Bass Celebrates “Bye Bye Bye”
Lance Bass celebrated the song’s 25th anniversary in the most adorable way possible, by teaching his son Alexander to sing and dance to the song! In a video clip he posted on his Instagram, Bass can be seen with Alexander sitting on his lap singing “Bye Bye Bye” and doing the “bye bye” wave.
Fans loved the video with one NSYNC fan account commenting, “How freaking cute!!! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree Lance!”
25th Anniversary of the Album No Strings Attached
This coming March, the boy band’s No Strings Attached album will also celebrate its 25th anniversary. In an interview with The New York Post, Fatone said they’re having a serious discussion about how to celebrate the album. “We have to have a conversation. That’s really what it boils down to. And we’re gonna hopefully do that soon. We keep saying ‘soon,’ but it’s getting to the point where it’s like either s— or get off the pot. Let’s be real.”
He added that the album’s anniversary is the perfect moment to discuss and ask one another, “’OK, what does this look like? Do we want to do a tour? Is it just a tour? Is it an album? Is it an EP? Are we not going to do anything? Like, what exactly are we going to do?’”
We say, do all the above! A reunion tour and a new album are already long overdue!
