Brunch really is the perfect meal. You have a wide variety of food options including both breakfast and lunch. It's usually casual but also the perfect occasion for a sundress and patio dining. And it often involves mimosas or other cocktails. Truly what is better?

And I have rarely ever been to a brunch restaurant that didn't have a wait. So if they all seem to be popular how do you determine the best brunch in North Carolina?

A good place to start is with Yelp. And the review/rating website recently published a list of the Top 100 Brunch Spots across the United States for 2024. Two North Carolina brunch restaurants ranked among the best.

Best Brunch In North Carolina According To Yelp

So how was this list created?  It is based on Yelp ratings are reviews in the "Breakfast & Brunch category". Restaurants considered featured a large concentration of reviews mentioning “brunch” and “Mother’s Day” The identified restaurants were then ranked.

Restaurants across the country were considered but Yelp limited the number of businesses per state for geographic diversity. And two North Carolina brunch spots made the cut.

Young Cardinal Cafe, Winston-Salem, North Carolina

The highest-ranking restaurant taking the title for the best brunch in North Carolina is Winston-Salem's Young Cardinal Cafe. According to its website the menu goes "back to the basics with modern twists and fresh ingredients".

They offer a coffee bar as well as sit-down dining to accommodate everyone! View the menu here.

The Sage Mule, Greensboro, North Carolina

The other best brunch spot in North Carolina is not too far down the road from our first. You'll find The Sage Mule in Greensboro. The menu features breakfast and lunch favorites.

Some dishes that caught my eye include a sourdough waffle as well as daily frittata offerings. See the full menu here.
