NFL Players Out Of This North Carolina University Make The Most Money
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 28: (L-R) Ikem Ekwonu poses with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell onstage after being selected sixth by the Carolina Panthers during round one of the 2022 NFL Draft on April 28, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There is a lot of money in football for both the players and the organizations. These days in college with NIL and of course the massive salaries of the NFL. And deciding where to play college football, for that income, and the best shot at making it in the NFL can be a big decision for players. But which colleges give you the potential to earn the most money in the NFL? A new study by sports betting media group Canada Sports Betting revealed the colleges producing the highest-earning NFL players. To do this they analyzed the lifetime career earnings of active NFL players who attended college in America. They used this to then calculate the average earnings per player from different colleges. Some of the top schools were not what I would have guessed. I was glad to see NFL players out of a certain North Carolina University I attended made the most money though.
If you know me I am a die-hard NC State fan. Coming in 21st place out of 77 universities and the highest in the state is North Carolina State University. Or NC State as we prefer. Former Wolfpack players in the NFL from here earn on average $14,863,730. This is 29% ($3,400,885) higher than the national average of $11,462,845. NC State Alumni in the NFL include two Carolina Panthers Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, and Juston Burris. Other notable names are Miami Dolphin Bradley Chubb, Kansas City offensive lineman Joe Thuney, and Las Vegas Raiders stand-out wide receiver Jakobi Myers among others. You can see a full list here.
Here are the average salaries of NFL players out of the other major North Carolina universities:
- #43 North Carolina $9,955,765
- # 55 Duke $8,422,587
- #72 Appalachian State $3,738,622
- # 76 Wake Forest $2,778,426
Surprisingly Alabama did not top this list, instead, it was USC (Southern Cal as we have to clarify in the Carolinas). The Trojans were followed by Mississippi State and Clemson. The Crimson Tide came in 13th. These averages were compiled by our friends at Canada Sports Betting who took data on all currently active NFL players to calculate the average earnings per player by college attended. Per player average earnings were calculated by dividing the total average earnings by the number of active players. Colleges with fewer than ten active players were excluded. Thanks to Canada Sports Betting for sharing their research with us.
5 Best Personalities in the NFL Right Now
We can talk about the best quarterbacks or coaches or running backs in the NFL until we’re blue in the face. But, what makes the game really exciting to watch are the personalities behind those players and staffers. Of course, having a fun personality isn’t all there is in the NFL. We love watching these guys go at it on the field and witnessing their athleticism. We also love seeing expert coaches leading their teams to victories. But, having a really cool, larger-than-life personality certainly helps. So, what players have the best personalities in the NFL right now?
Before we get to our current list, let’s look at some of the most best personalities in the NFL of all time. Bleacherreport.com has a listicle out of the players with the most colorful personalities of all time. Topping that list is Terrell Owens. “Love him or hate him, T.O. has the most colorful personality,” they state in the article. “Over his career, he’s shown all the qualities: arrogance/confidence, drama (all of 2005 in Philadelphia), excitement, unpredictably, crying (that Tony Romo press conference) and humor.” That’s a good call. Coming in at No. 2 is the legendary Joe Namath. “Who else could get away with wearing sunglasses on the sideline?” they exclaim. “With the long hair, the occasional Fu Manchu and the playboy attitude, he was the most compelling figure in sports during the late 1960s and early 1970s.”
So, what about right now? I looked at the current season and picked a range of roles, from quarterback to coach to tight end. These guys have stood out this season for either their larger-than-life personalities or situations. Also, we discuss the current NFL in the latest episode of my podcast, “The Squad with Anne Erickson,” which you can listen to below. Subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.
