Over Easy, Scrambled, Poached? This Is How North Carolina Takes Their Eggs
How you like your eggs is a personal decision. Sure you may enjoy them in numerous ways but I bet deep down you have a favorite. Am I correct? Is it boiled or scrambled? Perhaps poached or fried? Or maybe you prefer them used to make omelets, quiche, frittatas, or soufflés. Either way, eggs are a staple on the brunch/breakfast menu. But how does North Carolina like to enjoy their eggs? I’m glad you asked.
Our friends Casinos.com decided to find the answer to that question and share it with us. They utilized Google Trends data from October 2022 to October 2023 to find out what each state’s favorite way to cook eggs is. To do this, the research and analytics team measured the “level of interest in 10 of the nation’s favorite methods from scrambled to soft-boiled.” And based on that data here are top 3 ways the state of North Carolina prefers to cook eggs.
- The Omelet
- Sunny Side Up
- Scrambled
I have to agree in the omelet superiority, being able to add whatever you want to the egg certainly elevates this. Though technically in this research they omitted recipes that “usually require more ingredients, such as frittatas and quiches.” They did leave omelets in because they “think they can be eaten plain” which they admit might be controversial. It is. Interestingly enough scrambled was the clear favorite for the United States, ranking as the top way to cook eggs in 17 of the 50 states. Some perhaps unexpected favorites included Nevada (Coddled Eggs) and California (Steamed Eggs).
