Are You Familiar With The 2 Beers And A Puppy Test? Here’s How It Works
If you want to figure out how you feel about someone, try the ‘Two Beers and a Puppy’ test.“Works Well With Others,” by Ross McCammon.
It comes from the bookHere’s how the ‘Two Beers and a Puppy’ test works:
- Pick a person in your life – a friend, coworker, cousin – and ask yourself two questions:
- Would I drink two beers with this person?
- And……would you allow this person to look after your puppy for a weekend?
- Some people are no and no. These people are to be avoided at all costs.
- Some people are yes and no. Yes to having a couple beers – no to the puppy. These people are to be cautiously trusted.
- Some people are no and yes. No to the beers – yes to the puppy. These people aren’t much fun but they make the world a better place – especially for puppies!
- And some people are yes and yes. These are wonderful people and your life is better for knowing them. Seek them out. Collaborate with them. We can enjoy their company while striving to be that person ourselves.
Remember that no one is perfect, and friendships may have occasional hiccups. However, if someone consistently demonstrates these good qualities, they are likely a good friend. A good friend who enriches your life and deserves your trust and appreciation.
Forming meaningful friendships takes time and effort. Be open to new experiences and don’t be discouraged by initial rejections or setbacks. Good friends can bring joy, support, and companionship to your life, making the effort worthwhile.
I have a lot of different types of friends. I don’t get everything I need out of any of them. Some are sports friends, some are drinking friends, some are friends who make me laugh…and then the friends who are there for any issues. It’s a damn good group!
