CMS Rolled Out It’s Express Bus Service What It Means For Your Kids
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) district started the new school year with a new bus plan. CMS is rolling out its “Express Bus Stop” service. The bussing project was created to help magnet school students who no longer have door-to-door bus service. Instead, students at magnet schools in the district will be picked up and dropped off at shuttle stops according to WSOC.
Parents were concerned with the 44 different stops magnet school buses had to make. So, CMS made a plan to come up with 11 bus stops. It’s kind of like the shuttle stops you have at the airport or a big theme park parking lot.
CMS will have staff members out at these stops for the first 3 days of school. They hope this will help families transition to the bus stops easily.
CMS is rolling out this plan in an effort to help bus driver vacancies across the district WSOC TV reported.
I live in Union County. We have the same bus driver shortage issues there. The bus no longer stops at individual streets. It now dumps everyone off at one stop at the top of the street. It makes for a cluster but does cut down on time in my neighborhood. By doing this the drivers can get to their next stop quickly!
