People have strong opinions about where to get the best tacos and everyone has their favorite. How about a list of the best cities to find great tacos! If you’re looking for the best tacos in the country, new research has you covered. I personally, love a soft shell taco. But I'm not really a huge taco fan in general. But did find this list pretty interesting.
The research team at RealEstateWitch.com dug into data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Numbeo, Yelp and Google Trends to determine the city worthy of the best taco title.
- That honor goes to Austin, Texas, which tops the list for several reasons.
- Austin is home to 7.9 taco joints per 100-thousand residents, which is 242% more than the average city. Those taco spots also have an average Yelp rating of 4.31, which is reportedly 6% higher than the other cities in the study.
- Austin is also the winner for “top city for breakfast tacos” and “top city for vegan tacos.”
- The city with the most “overall taco passion” is San Antonio, Texas, which also wins “top city for birria tacos.”
- The “top city for Taco Tuesday” is San Diego, California, which is also the “top city for fish tacos,” while Los Angeles wins “top city for carnitas.”
- The closest city to Charlotte for great tacos is Richmond, Virginia. Richmond is actually the only east coast city in the top 15.
