GettyHave you committed a social media sin? Most of us have posted something on social media we came to regret. My real-life wife, and my "work wife" get on me for posting pictures from bad angles! Plus, each person in my life I take a picture with needs a different filter. Damn it! There are so many do's and dont's.
It's not just about poor picture-taking either according to the NY Post. New research reveals some states are worse than others when it comes to their online behavior. Unfortunately one of those states is South Carolina. A study of more than 3-thousand Americans looks into whether they’ve engaged in 10 “social media sins” and which states have the most offenders.
- It turns out New York is the worst, with its residents committing the most “social media sins” of any state. No surprise there!
- More than half of the residents of the Empire State admit to having done each of the 10 “sins.”
- Nearly three-quarters (72%) of folks in New York state confess to doing the most commonly committed “social media sin,” arguing with someone online.
- On the flip side, Oregon is the most well-behaved state on social media, with only 7% of its residents committing these “sins.”
If you live in South Carolina, read these and see if you're part of the problem hahaha!
- Having an argument with someone on social media
- Posting something while angry or hurt that they later regretted
- Sending sexually provocative written messages
- Posting something while drunk they later regretted
- Posting abusive comments
- Sharing images or videos of someone else without their permission
- Sending sexually provocative images (nudes)
- Posting revealing images or videos of themselves
- Arguing with a celebrity on social media
- Catfishing someone

BBQ Joint in North Carolina Ranked One of the Most Instagrammable
In the United States, barbecue is big business. This is especially true in North Carolina. When I am enjoying a BBQ plate, I like ribs or brisket. Lucky for me, there's an awesome BBQ place down the street. My next move might be to try out a North Carolina BBQ joint that made the top BBQ Instagram list.
Normally you would expect BBQ sales to decrease as food prices rise, but that has not been the case. Searches for 'BBQ' have increased 81% between April 2021 and April 2022, and 51% of US restaurants offer BBQ dishes on their menus.
It is common practice for people to post pictures of their dinner on Instagram to show off the delicious food, but how popular are the top BBQ restaurants on Instagram? To do this, York Test analyzed the Instagram location data of over 700 BBQ restaurants across the U.S. They used these restaurants to determine how many people have tagged themselves at each location. This then helped to reveal which BBQ restaurants are the most Instagrammable. This is how a BBQ joint in North Carolina ranked one of the most Instagrammable spots.
