Taylor Swift Reunites With Ex Taylor Lautner
Taylor Swift enlists the help of one of her exes to help rescue her and her art. In a new music video, Twilight alum Taylor Lautner, who dated the singer for a few months in 2009, joins Swift for her new song, “I Can See You.” Lautner, who is married to another Taylor, Taylor Dome, plays a character that is on a mission to save Swift and her 2010 Speak Now album alongside actor Joey King. Swift, 33, wrote and directed the music video.
“I Can See You” is one of six new tracks that will be included in the pop star’s recently released re-recorded Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album. This will mark the third album released as part of Swift’s mission to re-record her first six albums following her former label Big Machine’s 2019 sale of her catalog’s master recordings.
The Tale of 3 Taylors
“I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music,” Swift wrote on Instagram Friday (July 7). Praising Lautner and his wife, Swift added, “Taytay is INCREDIBLE in this (didn’t have a stunt double!) and shout out to @taylautner for being so awesome to hang with on set. The Tale of 3 Taylors [laughing emoji] I always wanted to direct fight scenes/a heist storyline and had the most incredible time plotting this out with my amazing DP @selajon. So proud of this one.”
Speak Now‘s original and new versions also contain the track “Back to December” — the breakup song Swift wrote about Lautner, whose lyrics remain unchanged. It doesn’t seem the two have any bad blood, though. Besides this fun collaboration, Swift, Lautner, and his wife “Tay” recreated the iconic Spider-Man pointing meme. While performing in Kansas City Friday night, Swift surprised fans with another Lautner surprise as he made his entrance with a cartwheel and backflip. As one fan hilariously wrote, “not taytay calling for taytay while taytay cheers them both on !!”
