What happened to a North Carolina couple after winning the $150K lottery? Cary, North Carolina resident Alfred Harrell promised to host a dream wedding for his fiancée one day.  That dream became a definite possibility!  Harrell grabbed the first top prize of $150-thousand in a new North Carolina Lottery scratch-off game. The game had only been launched earlier this month, making his win the first top prize doled out.

Harrell’s winning ticket, a $5 Super Loteria, was purchased during a stop for gas at a Circle K in Cary, NC. “I’m still trying to process it. If I went the other direction and didn’t get gas there, I wouldn’t have won,” Harrell told CNN.

Last week, Harrell traveled to NC Lotto’s headquarters to pick up his winnings and took home over $106-thousand after taxes. Now, Harrell and his fiancée are eyeing venues for their upcoming nuptials and say the event will be a “big family celebration.”
