Unless you and your boo have had a conversation about never wanting to get married, there comes a point in every relationship where one of you is “waiting” for the other to propose. But at what point is that “waiting” too long? It becomes a question of if he or she will ever propose to you.

Dallas and I were dating 3 years before he popped the question, which was a good timeline for us. I just wanted to make sure he was capable of the commitment. We didn't walk down the isle for another 2 years. I wasn't in a huge rush... I just wanted to make sure I wasn't waiting on something that would never come. Thus, I love this list of 7 signs to know if you'll be waiting forever.

Of course, having a straight-up convo about the future and marriage is the best way to know for sure if a proposal will happen. But according to Boldethere are some signs you can look out for in your partner that show they’re likely never going to propose. Seeing these signs can help you not waste your time if you do see marriage in your future.

  1. They’re not anxious to make a timeline.
  2. When you show them a ring you like, they change the subject.
  3. If they say they’re not a commitment sort of person, believe them.
  4. If they’re past the timeline you’ve made, it’s off their radar completely.
  5. They haven’t mentioned the topic and you’ve been together for more than five years.
  6. They keep telling you that “the more you ask, the more I don’t want to propose.”
  7. When a family member asks them about it, they get mad.
