Ben Affleck: Jennifer Lopez Is ‘The Greatest Performer’ In The World
Ben Affleck isn’t shy when it comes to discussing his love for Jennifer Lopez’s music. And yeah, some of the songs are about him. Affleck appeared on his Air co-star, Jason Bateman’s podcast that he hosts with actors Sean Hayes and Will Arnett earlier this week. In it, Ben explains his level of admiration for his wife as a musician.
Almost immediately as Affleck joins the group, Bateman gets right to the point and asks, “What songs have been written about you?” Without missing a beat, Hayes answers, “‘Dear Ben‘ and ‘Dear Ben pt. ll.'”

Affleck coolly responds, “The songs that have been written about me have been written by the greatest performer in the history of the world, Jennifer Lopez. I don’t know that they are exactly as much about me, as maybe inspired by? Because there are some negative things in there…” The Ozark alum adds, “So are they flattering?” Ben simply replies, “She’s amazing,” then reveals there is a third song written about him — but not by anyone “gifted.” Jimmy Kimmel wrote a song about the actor back in 2009 called, “F—ing Ben Affleck.”
Bateman then asked if J.Lo wrote these songs about Ben when they were together or post-breakup. After pausing for a moment and sighing, Ben calls him out and says, “You know what, Jason? You’ve asked me these questions over and over. If you want to ask Jennifer about her career, if you’re interested in her work, go ahead and screw your courage and ask her!” Backing off, Bateman says he “learned a lot” from the singer and actress from her recent documentary, Halftime. Ben called it “incredible.”
J.Lo’s Biggest Supporter
Hayes goes on to mention Lopez’s appearances on Will and Grace and how her documentary blew him away. “My god, what the woman has accomplished is astounding.” Affleck adds, “It takes a big man not to feel inadequate in the face of my wife’s many, many accomplishments. I don’t feel bad about myself.”
“I’m not low self-esteem — well I am. I’m fishing a little bit,” he jokes. “No, the truth is it’s amazing, sometimes I completely forget. Here’s this incredible actress and this incredible performer and then we’re sitting in the car and I’m humming along — like I will with the radio. And then a professional singer goes ahead and sings along and you kinda feel like, ‘Well that’s embarrassing, maybe I should just zip it.'” As a good husband should, Ben says he knows all of J.Lo’s “brilliant” songs. Bateman challenged him to sing them, but Affleck said, “Not to you.”
Lopez, 53, and Affleck, 50, were first engaged in November 2002 but called things off completely in 2004. The couple, who rekindled their romance in 2021, eloped in Las Vegas last July — three months following their engagement. They then had a lavish, three-day wedding at Ben’s 87-acre Savannah, Georgia property. They tied the knot exactly where they were supposed to wed 20 years ago when they were first engaged.
