People Are Eating Their Christmas Trees
WTH? People are eating their Christmas trees?? While some people just throw their tree away after Christmas is done, folks in Philadelphia have several different options. One of those is the Philly Goat Project at Awbury Arboretum, where for a $20 contribution people can give their trees over to be eaten by goats.
Philly has over 20 different places to dispose of trees, including 19 drop-off sites the city will be running in January, but there’s only one where you can enjoy hot chocolate, pet a goat, and then feed it a Christmas tree.
Not to be outdone… Someone named Julia Georgallis, comes along according to the New York Post. She’s the author of “How To Eat Your Christmas Tree.” What? Really?? Hahaha! Okayyyyy.
“You can eat pretty much the whole thing,” she says.
She says the needles from the tree can be used “as you would use rosemary or bay leaves, for flavor,” and recommends putting sections of the tree itself in the oven until they’re charred and using the pine ash for flavor. Georgallis hosts a supper club in east London with menu items made from Christmas trees.
