‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’: Watch The Trailer Now
It’s been just six days since we saw James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. But today, we got our first glimpse of their next adventure. Which will likely be their last. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer just dropped at the Brazil Comic Con.
In the trailer, we see that Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is back. We haven’t seen her since the final battle in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. we knew she’d be back! We also knew that this film would tell a bit of the story of Rocket’s origin and we catch glimpses of that here as well. (Rocket, of course, is voiced by Bradley Cooper.)
There are also scenes with the other Guardians: Peter Quill, aka Starlord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Kraglin (Sean Gunn).
There’s also Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel; as in the Holiday Special, he’s older and bigger than he was when we last saw him in Thor: Love and Thunder. He also appears to be played by an actor in a costume (as opposed to being created from all CGI).
Will Poulter joins the cast as the much-anticipated Adam Warlock (alluded to at the end of 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). Maria Bakalova (who co-starred in 2020’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) is the voice of Cosmo the Spacedog. She made her debut in that role in the Holiday Special.
The music shows a bit of progression as well: where the first two films were packed with ’70s classics, the trailer has a remix of Spacehog’s 1995 hit “In The Meantime.” Perhaps it was on the Zune that Kraglin gave Quill at the end of Vol. 2.
As mentioned, this is likely to be the final Guardians film. Director/writer James Gunn has said that he’s always seen it as a trilogy. But he’s also leaving the Marvel universe: he recently took the position of co-CEO of DC Studios, so this is likely his last Marvel project for the foreseeable future.
