Not So Easy Mac, Woman Sues Kraft Over Mac & Cheese Preparation
In today’s episode of crazy lawsuits. A Florida woman (why is it always Florida?) has filed a $5 million lawsuit against Kraft Heinz, alleging that the company misled consumers about how long it takes to prepare their Velveeta microwaveable mac and cheese cups. The primary plaintiff in the class action lawsuit, Amanda Ramirez, claims Kraft Heinz violated the law when it said Velveeta Shells & Cheese cups took three and a half minutes to prepare. The lawsuit claims that it takes more than 3.5 minutes to prepare as that is just the cook time. Additional steps include opening the packaging, stirring in the cheese mix, and adding water. Really lady? Really? If you literally only have 3.5 minutes to cook your food you might want to work on time management skills. I cannot imagine this case does not immediately get thrown out by the judge. What a waste of taxpayer money and valuable court time.
Ramirez is seeking at least $5 million in damages, “including statutory and punitive exclusive of interest and costs.” Listen I can’t imagine how much mac & cheese you’d have to waste your time making if your lost time is worth $5 million. Just because you can sue, doesn’t mean you should. And lawyers well, something tells me this is an “ambulance chaser” type of attorney. No reputable council would draft this lawsuit. If you’re trying to pick the pockets of a major corporation there are better lawsuits than this. Seriously. Who sues over mac & cheese taking probably 45 seconds longer to make? Go to the Panera drive-through if you’re in that big of a hurry. Should she win this case, or is it a bit far-fetched?
North Carolina Woman Calls Police To Restaurant Over Pink BBQ
Attention new North Carolina residents- learn about BBQ. Not BBQ from where you are from, North Carolina BBQ. Had this woman done just that a frivolous 911 call could have been avoided. Yes, a woman called the police over pink bbq. The incident happened at Clyde Cooper’s BBQ in Raleigh. The restaurant took to social media to share the incident. And it all boils down to the woman ordering something that she didn’t entirely know what it was.
Smoked meats turn pink on the outside. That’s just the way it is. But the woman kept insisting her meal was undercooked (it wasn’t). She was offered a replacement meal but was not satisfied. You can read the review she wrote about the experience below. And she had every right to write it. But calling the cops? That has to be a false emergency call correct? I can only imagine being the officer dispatched to this situation. Or the dispatcher who took the call.
The story has since been picked up by several news outlets including the Raleigh News & Observer, Barstool Sports, and where I was first alerted to it- WRAL. One of WRAL’s sports radio personalities Joe Ovies posted the review to his Twitter account yesterday. And I could not stop reading the responses. Looking for a way to procrastinate today? I highly recommend it. See both sides of the story below as well as some of the best reactions social media had. And feeling bad about yourself? At least you didn’t call the police over pink bbq that was supposed to be pink. I can only imagine the shame this woman is feeling as the story gains more traction.
