Raleigh is one of the best cities for Gen Z
It’s always a proud moment when I see Raleigh making a good list.
A recent study from real estate listing service “CommercialCafe” took a look at the best cities for 18- to 25-year-olds. The largest 45 cities in the country were scored based on affordability, unemployment rate, green commuting options, recreational and dining establishments, Gen Z population share, Internet speed, school enrollment, and the number of parks.
Here are the top ten they came up with:
- Atlanta
- Minneapolis
- Boston
- Tucson, Arizona
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- Columbus, Ohio
- Seattle
- Austin, Texas
- El Paso
- New York
Atlanta ranked first mostly due to its large Gen Z population and all its parks. It did rank 28th for affordability, so it’s important to keep that in mind. Minneapolis also scored well for its large Gen Z population plus its low unemployment rate. Omaha, which ranked at number 12, had the lowest unemployment rate.
San Francisco was the only city to score lower in terms of affordability than New York, but the Big Apple still made it into the top ten list because of all the recreation and dining options, Internet speeds, and green commuting options.
As someone who was born and raised in Raleigh, I would have to agree. I didn’t realize how much I would miss Raleigh until I moved to Charlotte. Cheers to everyone living in and moving to Raleigh, North Carolina!
