Gallery: LauRen’s Son Had His First Day Of Kindergarten
My baby started kindergarten yesterday! Pass the box of tissues, please!
What a day of rollercoaster emotions for this momma. I am so proud of this little boy and all his accomplishments, but how did my little guy become a 5-and-a-half-year-old sprinting off to kindergarten in the blink of an eye? Maney has this saying when it comes to parenting, and it couldn’t be more spot on. The days are long, but the years are short.
Working in morning radio, I don’t get to be a part of the a.m. narrative too often, so when I do, I enjoy every minute. I wanted Cash’s first day of school to be so special for him, so I pulled out my balloon backdrop and made him some balloon garland.
Cash was also excited about school and all smiles for photos, but one thing was noticeably missing. His front tooth. Friday afternoon, Cash came to me and showed me that his tooth was “wiggly,” and I begged him not to mess with it. I was hoping that we could keep it at least until the day after school started, but Cash had other plans. Sunday night, that little chiclet came out. We almost made it, but Cash was so proud of his new treasure, and the fact that the tooth fairy was going to visit only made going to bed more exciting.
Dropping Cash off to school was a surreal experience for me. I feel like everything happened so fast. Of course, it was a hurry up and wait car line situation, but when I had to open up his door and kiss him goodbye, he was off in a heartbeat. And mine stopped.
