I typically move two steps ahead of my kids, my husband, and myself. It helps me keep order in my life and avoid problems that can be eliminated before they start, so this was new territory for me. Let me set the scene. I am 2 days away from leaving for Morning Show Boot Camp, where I am presenting on a panel. The panel is “Women In Radio.” I am overjoyed to be part of it! In fact, after going year after year to observe this panel, I am shocked and flattered to be part of it.
I obviously want to impress, and I always feel more empowered in a blazer and pants. So I head to the mall to try to find the perfect outfit. It’s noon when I enter the mall, and I have to pick up my son Cash at 2 pm. More than enough time to find something fabulous.
I bounce from store to store, and when I find one that fits my style, I go to town pulling dresses, blazers, and pants. I head into the dressing room and start ripping through my pile of clothes when my husband text. “You’re getting Cash, right?” Right. Shit!
It’s 1:45 pm, and I have a 20 min drive! I immediately pick up my things and make a beeline to my car. I think I was mid-store when I looked down to take inventory of my belongings. Bag, keys, cell phone… WAIT! Where is my shirt?!?! That’s when I realized I was standing in the middle of the store, all eyes on me, still wearing the pants I was trying on but with no shirt. I was only in my bra.
