Delta Gave Passenger $4,800 In Air Miles After Forgetting His Wheelchair, Then Breaking It
Tim Kelly flew from New York to Dublin on July 2nd, and the staff at Delta Air Lines forgot to load his custom wheelchair onto the plane, forcing him to spend two days of his vacation without it. Delta paid for him to rent a chair similar to his own until his chair could get there from JFK and offered him 400k air miles. Those are worth roughly what he spent on his tickets.
The story didn’t get better. When his custom wheelchair finally showed up, Delta had accidentally snapped off one of the chair’s hands brakes. Kelly says that it happened occasionally and was easy to fix and that Delta paid for the repairs.
