Canada is going to ban most foreigners from buying homes for two years in an attempt to cool off a white-hot real estate market. The policy to be announced today also will provide billions of dollars to spur home construction.
Home prices in Canada have more than doubled over the past two years and, in February, the benchmark price of a home shot up to nearly 700-thousand dollars. If you have to head to Canada for work, it’s all good. The foreign-buyer ban won't apply to students, foreign workers, or foreign citizens who are permanent residents of Canada.
