“Black Panther” Director Is Accidentally Arrested For Bank Robbery
“Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler learned the hard way that you don’t hand bank tellers notes.
TMZ is reporting that Coogler went to an Atlanta area Bank of America in January and wanted to withdraw money from his account. He has on sunglasses and a mask, no surprise there, but the note was the problem.
Apparently, the note read “I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet.” The teller called cops at that point.
It seems when the teller, described in the police report as a Black pregnant woman, got an alert on her screen when trying to do the transaction and overreacted. When police arrived, they detained two people waiting for Coogler in an SUV and briefly handcuffed the director. Police quickly figured out it was all a screw-up, apologized to Coogler, and left.
