The Benefits Of Drinking “Sparkling Coffee”
What no one likes to talk about is how difficult it is to consistently whip up that perfect cup of coffee. It takes a lot of trial and error so while you’re on your quest to find that perfect coffee routine/recipe, consider turning to sparkling coffee.
Sparkling coffee is exactly what you’re probably thinking it is. It’s made with carbonated water and infused with citrus rather than cream and sugar. If we haven’t lost you yet, here’s how to make it according to Dan McLaughlin, owner of the small-batch coffee roaster Golden Triangle Coffee in Cleveland.
- Toss an orange slice and some fresh basil into a glass
- Fill the glass up with ice
- Pour mineral or sparkling water over the top and let it soak while you prepare your espresso
- Pour in the espresso
Dan notes in his video there are tons of variations you can try with this and if it isn’t sweet enough for you, then feel free to add some simple syrup. “A lot of people don’t know, but citrus fruit really, really compliments the flavors of coffee,” McLaughlin says. “Together, they just bring out such a beautiful, natural sweetness that I just can’t get over.” There are also super awesome health benefits to sparking coffee.
- It’s good for your gut – Adding water to your coffee adds in a bit more hydration and if it’s mineral water specifically, you’re getting an extra dose of things like magnesium, calcium, sodium, and zinc which all support a healthy gut.
- It offers heart-health benefits – For those deficient in calcium or magnesium, this drink could lower your blood pressure. In addition, citrus fruits like oranges are high in antioxidants.
This sounds illegal…yet it sort of reminds me of fondue, fruit dipped in chocolate. What’s an underrated ingredient that you add to your coffee? Tweet us! @theMRLshow
