The Peppa Pig Theme Park Opens Today
Central Florida’s newest theme park opens today. According to Tampa Bay Times, Peppa Pig Theme Park opens today in Winter Haven near Legoland. It’s the world’s first theme park devoted to the British cartoon pig that’s popular with preschoolers. Back in October we reported that gossip of the Peppa Pig park opening, and now it’s final!
Here’s what to know about the Peppa centered park, according to the “Tampa Bay Times”:
- It looks and sound like the TV show
- Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster gets things going for the kids
- There’s a lot of shade in the design for people to take advantage of on a hot day
- The souvenir shop is small
I do wonder if this theme park will contribute to the Peppa Pig Effect. Kids from the U.S. have been binge-watching so much of the British cartoon Peppa Pig that they’ve started to develop British accents and even using words like “telly.”
The so-called “Peppa Effect” took off during the pandemic, as screen time limits were lifted as parents worked from home. Now, parents say their kids are opting for “Father Christmas” instead of “Santa Claus” and throwing out expressions like “give it a go.”
Per the New York Post, Peppa Pig was the second most in-demand cartoon after Spongebob Squarepants for a 12-month period ending February. It was the 50th most in-demand out of all shows, reportedly moving up from the 103rd spot a year earlier.
I had personal experience of this effect as my own niece started using a British accent. The craziest part is that she didn’t know that she had a different accent. It’s not as if she was practicing, or trying to talk different, it just happened naturally and organically.
