Mom Insists Son Confess To Cheating On Pregnant Wife
Some parents try to help cover up their kids’ wrongdoings, but Newsweek found one mom on Reddit is being praised for trying to make her son come clean about his. In a post to the “Am I the a-hole” section, the mother explains that her 26-year-old son Paul went out with his friends on New Year’s Eve, and his wife Julia, who’s eight months pregnant, stayed home with his parents. And the trouble started when one of Paul’s friends let it slip to his mom that he ditched them to “spend the night” with his ex instead.
“I was flabbergasted,” the mom writes. “I felt anger and disappointment washing over me and I couldn’t stand even looking Julia in the face knowing that Paul lied and most likely was unfaithful to her.” So she confronted her son, who tried to deny it before admitting he “got drunk” and that it “just happened.” At this point, the mom encouraged him to be honest with his wife but he refused. And that’s when she said he left her with no choice but to give him three days to tell Julia that he cheated, or she would do it herself.
Paul started crying, accusing his mom of “trying to ruin” his life and insisting that his wife would never understand. But the mom stood her ground, telling her son that he was “dead wrong” to think she would “condone or cover-up” what he did. Paul begged his mom not to say anything and his dad even told his wife to “stay out of it,” and while she refuses to back down, she is starting to second guess herself. So she turned to Reddit to ask if she’s wrong for forcing her son to tell his wife the truth about him cheating and most users have her back on this one, saying “You are a fantastic mother trying to hold your son accountable for his actions,” writes one user. “Your husband needs to get over ‘the old boys club’ mentality immediately. I would be asking myself some questions about him.”
