LISTEN: MRL Talks With A Mom Who Delivered Son At 24 Weeks
1 in 10 infants in the United States is born prematurely. Welcoming a baby into this world sooner than expected is scary for the new parents and the whole family. Novant Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team provides critical care for babies born prematurely. Hemby Children’s Hospital NICU received 90 NICU transfers last year from facilities that could not provide the complex critical care Hemby offers in their NICU. Miracles happen in the NICU every day – their clinical teams care for infants born as early as 22 weeks.
Just like this mom and her son, whom she had at 24 weeks. Listen to her talk about her experience below:
Join us in helping the Hemby Children’s Hospital NICU team raise money for their upcoming expansion set to break ground next month. They will be adding 12 new NICU patient beds, providing specified NICU physician sleep rooms, enhancing the team lounge, locker room, and restroom, providing family restrooms, and adding a private lactation space for NICU mothers to pump or nurse privately.
