Here’s Why You Should Keep Your Wedding Dress A Secret
Saying yes to the dress is a very exciting time for a bride, so it’s understandable why they may want to show off their pick with anyone who asks to see it. But one bride doesn’t think that’s a good idea, and she makes a strong argument as to why.
Accordering to Fox News, Nicole Pellegrino, a co-host of the Betches Brides Podcast, recently shared a TikTok video explaining why brides should keep their wedding dress a secret until the big day, noting that sharing her dress beforehand was one of her biggest “wedding regrets.”
Nicole said she gladly showed her dress pick “to literally anybody who asked,” and she regrets it. “People are bad liars and no matter how hard they try. If they don’t like your dress, when you show them that photo, it will show on their face,” she shares with Fox News. “So, even if you truly love your dress and feel great in it, those little opinions will subconsciously start to taint your perspective of your own dress.”
Instead, she says it’s better to just pick two or three people you trust, and whose opinion matters, to go with you to get your dress. Fox News says she notes, “That way, on the wedding day, it’s a big surprise for everybody, all your bridesmaids see it for the first time, it’s really special, and you don’t have to deal with people’s opinions.”
Nicole’s post has since gone viral and has been viewed almost 400,000 times, with many brides agreeing with her argument.
