Stress is a normal part of life that people experience every day, but too much might be a sign of a deeper issue.
Here’s what stress really is: “a normal human response to anything physical or emotional that places a strain on the person.” It also only lasts a short time.
Health experts say if the worry “is intrusive beyond the stressor” then it’s most likely anxiety. If the sadness latches on, that’s depression.
Stress isn’t considered a psychiatric condition, but it can worsen other mental conditions like depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Experts say if someone suspects themselves of having chronic stress, they should get assistance from a mental health professional.
