WATCH: Adorable Kid Has Olympic-Sized Dreams
On this day in 1996, a pipe bomb exploded in Olympic Centennial Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Two people died and more than 100 others were injured as a result of a bombing. Quoting an unnamed source, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution names security guard Richard Jewell as a suspect in the bombing. He had found the backpack that identified the bomb. He was originally arrested and accused of the crime. However, this was dismissed and soon authorities arrested Eric Robert Rudolph. He was convicted of placing the bomb in Centennial Olympic Park and one in Alabama.
