Paralyzed Man Gets Down On Knee To Propose In High Tech Suit
According to Good Morning America, a quadriplegic man who’s been confined to a wheelchair after an accident seven years ago has been able to make his dream of getting down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend come true. Back in 2014, Josh Smith was just 23 when he dove into a wave headfirst, slammed into a sandbar, and was instantly paralyzed from the chest down. Thanks to rehab and therapy, he’s learned to adapt and now drives an accessible van, participates in adaptive sports and he lives in an accessible home custom built for his needs.
But last year? Josh also fell in love when he met Grace Thompson on a dating app. Turned out, they’re both from Richmond, Virginia, and attend the same church. Not surprisingly, he says it didn’t take long for him to realize she’s “the one.” He planned a proposal that included him on bended knee and turned to his therapist for help. The plan included an exoskeleton suit – made up of motorized leg braces – which would allow him to get down on one knee and pop the question.
In case you were wounding … She said “yes!” and the couple is planning to tie the knot in October 2022.
