After Several IVF Failures, BFF Offers To Be Friend’s Surrogate
Now we joke in the studio that I would carry Roy’s baby when he and Stirling decide to have children. I LOVED being pregnant and Dallas and I are done having children, so this story warms my heart!
Erin and Matt knew they wanted to start a family soon after they tied the knot in 2012, but things didn’t go as planned. The couple tried to get pregnant and it just didn’t work out for them, over and over again. For six years, they went to extremes to become parents – enduring five egg retrievals, nine IVF transfers with 15 embryos and six heartbreaking miscarriages.
But just when they were giving up and facing the reality of infertility, Erin’s best friend, Rachel, came to them with an offer. She told the couple she wanted to be their surrogate and they couldn’t say yes fast enough. “It was the kindest offer we had ever received,” Erin says.
A few weeks after two embryos transfers were made, Rachel was pregnant with her bestie’s baby. The couple spent as much time as possible with their surrogate so they could bond with their baby during the pregnancy. She gave birth to their miracle rainbow baby girl, little Scottie, who was named after Erin’s dad, who passed away three years before. And making it even more special? She was born on his birthday! “I will never be able to repay Rachel for the greatest gift we will ever receive,” the grateful mom says.
