Charlotte Black-Owned Dentistry “Smile Savvy” Celebrates Anniversary
Owners of local Charlotte dentistry “Smile Savvy” Drs. Joya and Drew Lyons are celebrating seven years of operation this Black History Month.
After the two met through a fellowship program at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, they ran into each other again in med school at the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. They fell in love, married, and opened the practice together right before their daughter, Brielle, was born in 2014. Sounds like the PERFECT Valentine’s Day rom-com, right?
According to a recent press release, Dr. Joya Lyons says, “We are so excited to celebrate our seventh year in business, particularly during the month of February which is both Black History Month and also Valentine’s Day. We literally have a business built on love, in a field where there are fewer African Americans. It is the perfect culmination of possibilities” (smilesavvydentistry.com).
Known for taking good care of their patients, the couple has been featured on the cover of Dental Town magazine. They care for patients nationally, but their local client base in North Carolina continues to grow.
