NC Native Honored For Role In Creating Moderna Vaccine

North Carolina is on the map! Well, obviously…but this is still cool!
Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett is a Hillsborough native and even graduated from UNC. She is the National Institute of Health’s lead scientist for coronavirus vaccine research and was one of the team leads for the institute’s vaccine research center that developed the Moderna vaccine!
The town of Hillsborough is so proud of her that city leaders proclaimed January 12, 2021 as “Dr. Kizzmekia “Kizzy” Corbett Day.”
The very vaccine that she helped create has already been available to so many here in her home state of North Carolina.
