Amazon Pledges Money For Affordable Housing In Employment Hubs
Amazon is pledging more than two-billion-dollars to build affordable housing in three of its hub cities.
They would be Seattle, Arlington, Virginia, and Nashville, Tennessee. CEO Jeff Bezos says the Housing Equity Fund will create or maintain 20-thousand affordable homes in all three locations. Bezos says the funding will also help local families achieve long-term stability.
The company employs 75-thousand people in and around Seattle as well as around a thousand people each in Virginia and Tennessee. They are planning to expand the number of workers in Arlington and Nashville by the thousands. The money will mostly be spent for low-cost loans and grants.
