After Spending 1,134 Days At Shelter, 10-Year-Old Dog Gets Adopted
A dog that earned the longest-term resident award at a Pittsburgh animal shelter has finally gone home for the holidays. Capone, a Labrador retriever mix, spent more than three years at Animal Friends while he waited patiently for a loving family to find him.
The 10-year-old dog lived there for 1,134 days after he was transferred from another organization. And Capone’s day finally came last week when he was officially adopted by a family who had been fostering him for a few weeks.
It breaks my heart that people don’t want adult dogs. I personally adopted my dog from the North Meck Animal Rescue who was an adult dog that stayed in the shelter for 6 months. Older dogs need love too!
