Mom Left In Tears After Father-In-Law’s Gross Breastfeeding Comments
While breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world, there are still plenty of people who don’t know how to handle it when they see it happening right in front of them, and how one father-in-law reacted is causing some major family drama.
A man writes on Reddit’s “Am I The A-hole” forum that his parents recently dropped by their house unannounced and walked in on his wife breastfeeding their son. The man writes that while his dad didn’t really see anything, he wound up making two comments that left the man’s wife in tears.
“He did not see anything other than my wife’s boob (not nipple), but based on that he decided he had to comment so he told her that he could see why his grandson was so well fed,” the man shares. “Then when my mom walked in he told her something like ‘we don’t have to worry about John starving by the looks of it’.”
The OP explains that his wife is “very insecure” about her body after baby, and the wife was so upset by the comments she broke out in tears. The man demanded his dad apologize, and he did and his wife accepted it.
While that sounds like the end of the story, the OP writes he later found out his wife sent her father-in-law a message “raking him over the coals for what he said and telling him he was a pervert, disgusting and she didn’t want him in her home again for a long time.” While the OP does believe his father was wrong, he now thinks his wife is wrong for bringing things up again after his dad apologized.
When he asked Reddit what they thought, most people stuck by the wife and her feelings.

- Another added, “Doesn’t matter if he apologized, your wife does NOT feel safe around him right now and you 100% need to respect that,” noting, “What he did was shameful and your wife has every right to set boundaries. You need to be on her side.”
