Bridesmaid Threatens To Sue Bride After Cancelled Wedding
We all know that being a bridesmaid can be a lot of fun, but it can also be expensive. Now, one couple who decided to cancel their wedding plans and elope – “because pandemic” is now feuding with one of the bridesmaids over the cost of her dress. The bride and groom took to Reddit’s “Am I the a-hole” section to share the story and it sounds pretty ridiculous.
The couple was supposed to get married in October and before they canceled their plans, they made sure everything the wedding party bought could be returned. They write that everyone was supportive of their choice, except one bridesmaid, who was the husband’s friend … until now. They say she “went ballistic” and is “DEMANDING” they pay her the $140 for the dress in cash.
They explained to her that the bridal shop is making an exception to their policy and issuing refunds, but that’s not good enough for her. WHAT?!?! Lady! You’re getting your refund! The bridesmaid is over the top nasty – even threatening to take the bride to small claims court. The bride calls the situation “trashy” and she wants to know if she’s wrong for not paying up since the bridal shop will. Most Redditors agree: the bride is justified in refusing to pay.
Some users wonder if the bridesmaid may have already altered or worn the dress, maybe even damaging it so it couldn’t be returned. A few people suspect the bridesmaid is hoping the bride will pay her and she’ll get to keep the dress for herself. And pretty much everyone agrees this woman is being petty and the couple is better off without her in their lives.
