On Sunday (May 24), BET will air a tribute to Andre Harrell, the influential music executive who discovered Diddy and passed earlier this month at the age of 59, as the Hollywood Reporter reports.
The memorial broadcast is entitled Mr. Champagne and Bubbles, a nickname of Harrell’s, and will feature tributes from Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Babyface, Chris Rock, Naomi Campbell, Lee Daniels, Clarence Avant, Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons, and Robin Thicke, among others.
The commercial-free tribute will air on BET, BET Jams, BET Soul, and REVOLT TV, where Harrell was vice-chairman. During the late 1980s and ’90s, the founder of Uptown Records helped shape the sound of hip-hop and R&B. He was a part of developing many artists such as Mary J. Blige, Heavy D & the Boyz, Al B. Sure! and Guy.
